Community Advisory Board Job Description

PURPOSE:

The Community Advisory Board (CAB) is one of WXXI and the Little Theatre’s most effective resources for ensuring diverse community input into local programming.  The principal focus of the CAB is the identification of the most pressing needs and issues of the local community, so that WXXI and The Little can acquire or produce programming to meet those needs.  CAB members will also work to promote the mission and programming of WXXI and The Little to the community.

STRUCTURE OF THE CAB:

The CAB will consist of up to 15 members, each serving up to two, three-year renewable terms.  In each year, one third of the CAB will be replaced with new members, nominated by the Board of Trustees Board Development Committee, and approved by the Board of Trustees.  The Board Development Committee will solicit suggestions for CAB membership from the current CAB membership, the Board of Trustees and WXXI/Little staff.  The Board Development Committee will strive to select candidates that reasonably represent the diverse needs and interests of WXXI and The Little’s service community.

There will be a Chair and Vice Chair for the CAB, each serving two, two-year terms.  They will be nominated by the Board of Trustees’ Board Development Committee, and approved by the Board of Trustees.  The Chair will be responsible for organizing the two meetings per year in association with the WXXI/Little staff liaison, and will prepare an annual report for the WXXI/Little Board of Trustees.  The Vice Chair will assist the Chair in the organization of the two meetings, and the preparation of the annual report to the Board of Trustees.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CAB MEMBERSHIP:

All CAB candidates must be active members of WXXI and/or The Little, and be committed to attending two meetings per year.  Candidates must be willing to assist in the identification of community needs and issues, and to promote the mission and programming of WXXI and The Little to the community.  Failure to comply with the requirements of membership may result in dismissal from the CAB at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.
