With Heart and Voice - Claude Goudimel

I was very confused by Peter DuBois's pronunciation in the Dec. 4 program of the name Claude Goudimel. Never having encountered the name before, and especially confused by Mr. Du Bois pronunciation of the first name as "Clowd," I couldn't determine whether the name was French, German, Dutch, or English.

A great deal of Googling eventually led me to Claude Goudimel, which Mr. DeBois pronounced "clowd GOO-du-mel." Certainly the last name should be pronounced "goo-dee-MEL," and I can't imagine any dialect of French in which "Claude" would be pronounced as "clowd" rather than "clode."

In all cases with which I am familiar, the pronunciation of the first name "Claude" would be "clawd" rather than "clode," although the fomer may be a Anglicized version of the original French.
