Richard Proulx, 1937 - 2010

Richard Proulx was a giant in the field of sacred music. When he passed away in February 2010, he left us a rich legacy of music and recordings. This week, Peter DuBois has part one of a two-part tribute Richard Proulx.

re Richard Proulx program

Thank you so much for giving the wonderful program featuring Richard Proulx today. He raised the standards of liturgical music where ever he went. I was alto soloist with Richard in Seattle at Temple DeHirsch Sinai, and alto soloist at St. Thomas Medina, WA. He wrote several compostions for the soprano soloist, Rita Rambo and me while he was in those positions, including the opera, "The Pilgrim" which had its premiere at the AGO National Convention in Seattle. I believe I learned more from his knowledge and musicanship than almost anyone I had the priviledge with whom to work during my singing career. I give thanks to God for Richard, and know he is still doing wonderful work though eternity. He was a great friend and advocate, funny and warm, and sensitive---all good things.
