Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum: I am Susan B. Anthony

Fri, 02/21/2020 - 4:30pm - 5:00pm

Xavier Riddle and friends meet Susan B. Anthony as a child!

Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum, the new PBS Kids series that introduces children to inspiring historical figures and the character virtues that helped them succeed, features social reformer and women's rights activist Susan B. Anthony on February 21 at 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV.  In each episode Xavier Riddle, his sister Yadina, and their friend Brad face a problem and must turn to the Secret Museum, which allows them to travel back in time to meet real-life historical figures when they were kids.

In the I am Susan B. Anthony episode Xavier and Yadina are putting artifacts away on the shelves of the Secret Museum, deciding between the two of them where everything should go, and unintentionally leaving Brad out. To the Secret Museum the three friends go – heading back in time to meet Susan B. Anthony, someone who always stood up for the rights of all people. Watching the young Susan advocate for all of her siblings to have a vote in what to name their new baby goat – and then for all women everywhere to have a vote over matters that affect their country – helps Xavier and Yadina realize how important it is for Brad to have a say over what happens in the Secret Museum.

Please note: Each half-hour episode is split into two segments. The Susan B. Anthony segment shares the episode with George Washington. I am George Washington airs in the first 15 minutes followed by Susan B. Anthony.

Based on the children’s book series Ordinary People Change the World by New York Times bestselling author Brad Meltzer and illustrator Christopher Eliopoulos, Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum takes a fresh and accessible approach to teaching kids ages 4-7 about important historical figures and the experiences that shaped their lives.
