Salena's Mexican Restaurant
Salena’s Mexican Restaurant

At the Village Gate
Rochester, New York 14607

Since 1998 the Rochester area has had the pleasure of dining on a mix of traditional authentic Mexican cuisine as well as more modernized fare at Salena’s Mexican Restaurant in the Village Gate. “We make the great majority of our food from scratch and do our best to provide consistent delicious fare,” says Aaron Metras, Owner. “We are one of the few independent restaurants that offers health care benefits to our employees and will soon be rolling out retirement plan benefits. We hope this encourages our staff to take pride in and care of our restaurant.”
According to Metras, the decision to become a WXXI corporate supporter was an easy one. “We are long-time supporters of NPR and WXXI. We hold the WXXI audience in high regard and feel they are well-informed consumers. We are also aware this is a demographic that is likely to go out and support local establishments.”
When asked about any differences in underwriting on WXXI versus traditional advertising, Metras added, “Currently, WXXI is the only radio media we support. We believe WXXI listeners pay attention to who’s supporting the station. We have had several customers come in and tell us they came to Salena’s because they discovered we support WXXI.”
Metras is a fan of All Things Considered, Talk of the Nation, The Diane Rehm Show and Wait! Wait! Don’t Tell Me! on WXXI AM 1370, as well as locally-produced Stage Notes hosted by Robert Hammond on WXXI FM 91.5.
