Sat, 12/13/2014 - 11:00am - 12:00pm
Host Robert Hammond welcomes six-time Grammy Award winner Amy Grant to this week's Stage Notes at 11 AM. She’ll talk about her CD How Mercy Looks From Here and her musical hero, Carole King. Holiday songs featuring Grant and King are also part of this festive program.
In January 2014, Beautiful: the Carole King Musical, opened on Broadway and is still running strong at The Stephen Sondheim Theatre. Its star, Jessie Mueller, won the 2014 Tony Award for best leading actress in a musical.
Beautiful tells the story of Carole King from her early days as a Brooklyn teenager (named Carol Klein) struggling to enter the record business to her years spent as a chart-topping music legend. Find out How Amy Grant was able to get Carole King to sing a duet with her on her CD, How Mercy Looks From Here, and why she asked her to sing "It's Too Late" on Tapestry Revisited: A Tribute to Carole King released in 1995.
