Wicked Composer and Lyricist, Stephen Schwartz, Takes Center Stage on Stage Notes
Sat, 08/20/2011 - 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Although panned by The New York Times, Wicked has become the biggest blockbuster musical worldwide. Its Composer and Lyricist, Stephen Schwartz, takes center stage on this week’s Stage Notes.
Most known for his work on Wicked, Schwartz has written such hit musicals as Pippin, and soon to be revived on Broadway, Godspell. In addition to his impressive Broadway career, he contributed lyrics for many successful films, including Pocahontas, The prince of Egypt (music and Lyrics), and Enchanted. To date, he has not won a Tony Award (nominated for six); however, he’s won three Academy Awards and three Grammy Awards. Join host Robert Hammond for the music of Broadway on Stage Notes, as he showcases the wide-ranging works of Stephen Schwartz.
