Since 1911, the San Francisco Symphony has been known for innovative programs that run the spectrum of traditional repertoire to music of today. This musical variety is available to all in the new radio series, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, airing Wednesdays at 8 p.m. beginning September 11, 2013, on Classical 91.5/FM-HD 91.5-1.

Maestro Michael Tilson Thomas, music director for the symphony since 1995, leads many of these two-hour concerts, with such renowned soloists as violinists Gil Shaham, Leila Josefowicz, Itzhak Perlman, and Christian Tetzlaff, and pianists Yuja Wang and Nelson Freire. The Maestro will also welcome guest conductors Charles Dutoit, Edo de Waart, Herbert Blomstedt, and Pinchas Zukerman to the podium.

With the addition of Thomas to the symphony, he and the orchestra have been acclaimed for their musicianship, for their innovative programming, for spotlighting works by American composers, and for bringing new audiences into Davies Symphony Hall.
