April 2015 Highlights from the SFSO

Gil Shaham will perform with the SFSO twice this month.

Highlights from this month of San Fransisco Symphony broadcasts include a Gamelan ensemble, two appearences of Gil Shaham, and an all-Stravinsky program.
4/7      The orchestra is joined by the Gamelan Sekar Jaya, galeman ensemble in performance of  Traditional: Lelambatan Tabuh Pat Jagul, Michael Tilson Thomas conducts, Prokofiev: Violin Concerto No. 2 with Gil Shaham, and Britten: Excerpts from The Prince of the Pagodas.

4/14     Michael Tilson Thomas conducts Copland: Danzón cubano, and Britten: Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings with Toby Spence, tenor and Robert Ward, horn. The conccert ends with Shostakovich: Symphony No. 15.

4/21      Michael Tilson Thomas conducts Mozart:  Selections from Zaïde with Nadine Sierra, soprano, and Bruckner: Symphony No. 7

4/28    Michael Tilson Thomas conducts an all- Stravinsky program including  Agon, Violin Concerto with Gil Shaham, and The Rite of Spring.
