About Michael Lasser

Michael Lasser

Michael Lasser grew up just across the Hudson River in New Jersey at a time when Broadway was still Broadway, and kids, parents, and grandparents could all sing the same songs.  A graduate of Dartmouth College, he's been a broadcaster as well as a teacher, an art curator, a theater critic, a lecturer, and a free-lance writer.

A member of the Speakers Bureau of the New York Council for the Humanities, he frequently speaks about popular music and has taught the history of the Broadway musical and American popular music at several universities.  His articles about the performing arts appear in numerous national magazines ranging from American Legion to American Scholar.  He also served as a panelist for the New York State Council on the Arts.
