5/1        From the Adler Theatre in Davenport, with an amazing lineup of musicians, including Marimba Duo from Percussion Scholarship Group, performing Octabones by Adi Morag, a 17-year-old saxophone player from Iowa City, and a string quartet from the Music Institute of Chicago.

5/8        From the e.g. (entertainment gathering) Conference in Monterey, California, with stellar performances by young musicians, including a 9-year-old pianist and a teenage double bassist! Renowned ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro teams up with From the Top alum and guitarist Roberto Granados to create a dynamic duo on stage.

5/15      From its home base of New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall we enjoy a program that includes a 17-year-old erhu player from Boston, an outstanding young children's chorus, and a trumpet player from Iceland.

5/30      In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Hershey Felder’s musical play George Gershwin Alone, WFMT presents a live international broadcast performance from the Pasadena Playhouse.  George Gershwin Alone is a play with music about the legendary American composer, George Gershwin. The show incorporates the Gershwins' best-known songs, from “The Man I Love” and “Someone to Watch Over Me,” through passages and songs from An American in Paris and Porgy and Bess, to a complete performance of “Rhapsody in Blue.”

5/9            An Invitation to the Dance, Part 2  This week, we’ll focus on ballet music by Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky and Schubert – even Beethoven!

5/16            Beethoven and the Piano 200 years after the composition of Beethoven’s five piano concertos, they’re still the giants in the repertoire.  Join us for a concerto a day, plus some of his more intimate works for the instrument.
