Searching for Providers of Color

(Rochester, NY) — The mental health treatment field is disproportionately white. How important is it to find a care provider that can identify with a person’s culture and experiences? And how can systems be strengthened to provide acceptable mental health support to people of color?

Searching for Providers of Color explores how race, culture and language affect how people perceive and experience mental health conditions – and shares the experiences of BIPOC people looking for effective care. Searching for Providers of Color airs Sunday, August 28 at 9 p.m. on AM 1370.
