Spotlight on Youth Mental Health During COVID

Rochester, NY – Spotlight on Youth Mental Health During COVID, airing Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 9 p.m. on AM 1370/FM 107.5, looks at the mental health experiences of young people during the COVID-19 pandemic. It explores the extent of the crisis and considers how schools and the systems of care available to young people can improve.

It’s been two years since the COVID-19 pandemic threw children and young adults into “survival mode” and forced them to navigate remote school, major disruptions, and face the reality of missed opportunities. As a result, U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and other leading medical groups have declared a national emergency in youth mental health. Experts point to the serious impact of ongoing isolation, uncertainty, and grief as exacerbating challenges.
