Cinco de Mayo: Viva ¡México!
Rochester, NY – Cinco de Mayo, which celebrates the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, where the Mexican army defeated the French forces of Napoleon the Third, remains a day that acknowledges Mexican heritage in the United States. In Cinco de Mayo: Viva ¡México!, airing Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 3 p.m. on WXXI Classical, Venezuelan born host and pianist Ines Guanchez will share the history of Cinco do Mayo through the music of Mexican and Chicano composers from the past and present that celebrates Mexican national pride and heritage.
