A series of COVID-19 special reports
(Rochester, NY) -- WXXI brings listeners three specials that look at how the Coronavirus have affected lives. In Reporting in a Time of the Coronavirus, airing Sunday, June 7 at 9 p.m. on AM 1370, BBC World Service follows journalists from two daily newspapers in India and the United States as they explore the pandemic's impact, in real-time, on people. Working with journalists from the daily Mumbai Mirror and Kentucky's Courier Journal, this documentary gets under the skin of two newsrooms during this time of great uncertainty as each country comes to terms with coronavirus, handling lockdowns in their different ways to suppress transmission.
In The COVID Generation, airing Sunday, June 14 at 9 p.m. on AM 1370, listeners will meet the class of 2020 - school leavers and graduates from around the world - who would be, in normal circumstances, entering the labor market now.
And, finally A View on the Virus - Burying the Dead in New York City airs Sunday, June 28 at 9 p.m. on AM 1370. In a series of audio diaries sent from his New York apartment, Dr. Tom Frieden, former Director of the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, provides his unique insight on the unfolding situation around the world – and in New York. Then, listeners will hear from a funeral director in New York about how he is coping during the coronavirus pandemic. Clive Anderson has been struggling to keep up with the sheer volume of new coronavirus cases coming to his small funeral home in Pelham, New York. Normally he would average four funerals a week, now he is doing six a day.
