WXXI LIVE FORUM: Restarting the Economy
(Rochester, NY) May 8, 2020 -- WXXI hosts its second live, televised forum covering issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. This edition explores reopening the region’s economy. WXXI LIVE FORUM: Restarting the Economy will air on Thursday, May 21 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV and simulcast on AM 1370. It will also stream on WXXINews.org and @WXXINews on Facebook Live.
Hosted by Evan Dawson of WXXI News’ Connections, the broadcast will cover state guidelines for reopening the region, what community members can expect to see in their communities during different phases of the process, and how local business owners are being impacted by the pandemic.
Panelists include:
- Bob Duffy, president and CEO of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, and Finger Lakes reopening advisor to Governor Cuomo
- Dr. Michael Mendoza, M.D., Monroe County Public Health Commissioner
- Willie J. Lightfoot, president of the United Professional Barbers and Cosmetologists Association (UPBCA), Inc., and vice president of Rochester City Council
- Janine Caschette, proprietor of AVVINO
Community members will have the opportunity to ask industry leaders questions during the broadcast. Viewers can also submit questions in advance by calling 585-209-3180 or posting them on Twitter/Facebook, tagging @WXXINews. Questions may also be emailed to forum@wxxi.org.
WXXI LIVE FORUM: Restarting the Economy will be recorded and will repeat on Saturday, May 23 at 12 a.m. and 3 p.m. on WXXI-TV and Sunday, May 24 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Monday, May 25 at 11 a.m. on WXXI-WORLD (DT 21.2/cable 1275). Viewers can also find the recorded broadcast at WXXINews.org.
