Art In The Twenty-First Century

(Rochester, NY) – Art In The Twenty-First Century provides unparalleled access to the most innovative artists of our time, revealing how artists engage the culture around them and how art allows viewers to see the world in new ways. Season 9 premieres Friday, September 21, 2018 at 9 p.m. with Johannesburg, where viewers meet  four artists from diverse backgrounds as they pursue their artistic visions for South Africa. Following the season premiere episode, WXXI-TV presents the second episode, Berlin, at 10 p.m. In this episode we discover why post-Cold War Berlin has become a haven for artists from all over the world. 

The series provides unparalleled access to the most innovative artists of our time, revealing how artists engage the culture around them and how art allows viewers to see the world in new ways. Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actress Claire Danes will join the Peabody Award-winning documentary television series Art in the Twenty-First Century as its broadcast host for the series’ nineth season.
