All Gardens Great and Small

(Rochester, NY) - In a world dominated by smart phones and computers, the urge to even briefly escape from hectic modern life is stronger than ever. All Gardens Great and Small fulfills this need by taking a whimsical stroll through the wide variety of beautiful gardens across Britain, illustrating that creating a natural paradise is possible with a packet of seeds and a shovel. Whether it be a majestic estate in the English countryside, the product of sometimes decades of  meticulous work, or a tiny piece of Eden miraculously flowering in the middle of urban London, this program offers wonder for gardeners of all talents. All Gardens Great and Small premieres on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 9:00 p.m. on WXXI-TV.

British comedian Miranda Hart (Call the Midwife, Miranda) joins her mother, esteemed amateur gardener Dee Hart Dyke, as she explores the impressive private gardens that are opened to the public through the National Gardens Scheme in order to raise money for charity. Along the way, Dee meets the passionate plantsmen and women who spend their free time caring for their plants as if they were family. Armed with their tips and advice, as well as her own treasure trove of horticultural expertise, Dee sets out to make a gardener of her daughter by the summer’s end. Peppered with Miranda’s signature humor and quintessential British charm, All Gardens Great and Small is a testament to the joy of growing.

In the premiere episode, Dee Hart Dyke visits Julian Clary's restored Kent garden. She explores Tim and Lesley's tropical garden in Worcestershire. There's also a topiary and an urban garden.
