New Year's Day Specials

(Rochester, NY) – Classical 91.5 kicks off 2018 with waltz and polkas! On Monday, January 1 at 11 a.m. tune in for New Year’s Day from Vienna for the Vienna Philharmonic holiday concert from the Golden Hall of the Musickverein. Under the baton of Riccardo Muti, this concert will mark the fifth time - after 1993, 1997, 2000 and 2004 - that Riccardo Muti, whose close ties with the Vienna Philharmonic extend over several decades, conducts this prestigious event. The Vienna Philharmonic presents lively and yet nostalgic music from the vast repertoire of the Strauss family and its contemporaries. This concert is now broadcast to over 90 countries around the world.

Then join Classical 91.5 at 5 p.m. for New Year’s with the Pittsburgh Symphony as they present a concert of Strauss waltzes and polkas in the style of the Vienna New Year’s Concert. Noa Wildschut makes her Heinz Hall debut to play Chausson’s Poeme and Ravel’s Tzigane.  Manfred Honeck then conducts a program of musical gems from the waltz and polka tradition.
