A Royal Tuesday with "Diana - Her Story" and "Elizabeth at 90- A Family Tribute"

(Rochester, NY) Join WXXI for a Royal Evening on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 with the presentation of Diana - Her Story followed by Elizabeth at 90- A Family Tribute at 9 p.m.

Diana - Her Story kicks of the evening at 8 p.m. In 2017 it will be twenty years since Princess Diana was killed in a car crash, however Diana’s story remains incomplete. The anniversary of Diana’s death will sharpen the awareness of Prince Charles’ impending accession. Charles will always be marked by our view of his treatment of Diana, and while the royal family may feel that the last decade has seen a successful – if low key- rehabilitation of Charles and his wife Camilla, 2017 will remind us all of his role in the tragedy of Diana.

This new film will be full of fresh material including new statements Diana’s bodyguard Ken Wharfe, and her Private Secretary Patrick Jephson. Other key characters are also more able to speak with more time passed.

Narrated by HRH The Prince Of Wales, Elizabeth at 90- A Family Tribute – airing at 9 p.m. –  is a unique celebration of The Queen's 90 years. Film-maker John Bridcut has been granted access to the complete collection of Her Majesty's personal cine films, shot by The Duke of Edinburgh and The Queen herself, as well as by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.

Much of the footage has never been seen publicly before. Various members of the Royal Family take part in the documentary, contributing their own personal insights into the woman they know both as a member of their own close family and as Queen.

Then at 10:30 p.m. WXXI-TV presents an encore broadcast of Secrets of Althorp, which shares stories of the Spencer family and Diana’s childhood home.
