A Capitol Fourth 2016

(Rochester, NY) – This July 4th, America’s national Independence Day celebration kicks off the festivities for our country’s 240th birthday with a star-spangled party and all-star salute. A Capitol Fourth airs live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol before an audience of hundreds of thousands, millions at home and to our troops around the world via American Forces Network. A Capitol Fourth airs Monday, July 4, 2016 at 8pm and again at 10:30 pm on WXXI-TV.

The world-renowned television program A Capitol Fourth was produced for PBS and is a winner of the Silver World Medal at this year’s New York Festivals® International TV & Film Awards. The award ceremony, which was held on Tuesday, April 19, at the 2016 NAB Show in Las Vegas, honors programming in all lengths and forms from over 50 countries. Dedicated to both the Television and Film industries, categories mirror today’s global trends and encourage the next generation of story-tellers and talent in the areas of: Animation, Comedy, Corporate, Drama, Documentary, Feature Films, Movie Trailers, Music Videos, News, Promos, Reality TV Drama, Sports, Telenovelas, Webisodes, Best Performance by an Actor/Actress, Special Event, Innovation, Technical Production Team, CSR, Best Screenplay, Video Art, and Best Host.

The program is a co-production of Jerry Colbert of Capital Concerts and WETA, Washington, DC.  Executive producers Jerry Colbert and Michael Colbert have assembled an award-winning production team that features the top Hollywood talent behind some of television’s most prestigious entertainment awards shows. The team includes Emmy Award-winning producer Walter C. Miller, whose credits include the GRAMMY AWARDS and COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS; and award-winning director Paul Miller, whose credits include THE COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS and SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.
