Rethinking College

(Rochester, NY) – Rethinking College, a 25-minute film produced by Think College, explores the growing movement to include students with intellectual disabilitues in higher education. Through the perspectives of parents, educators, advocates, and policymakers, the film illustrates how colleges and universities can provide a setting for all students to grow, learn, and build better futures. Rethinking College premieres on WXXI-TV Thursday, July 23 at 8:30 p.m.

The movie explores how accessing higher education impacts students with intellectual disabilities in positive ways. It also demonstrates how enrolling students with intellectual disability adds diversity and a renewed sense of purpose to these learning communities. Rethinking College raises awareness of the opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities to access higher education.The film is designed to serve as a tool to spark dialogue and encourage viewers to explore ways to increase opportunities for post-secondary education options in their own communities.
