A Celebration of Peace Through Music

(Rochester, N.Y.) – In April 2014, Pope Francis canonized Pope John XXII and Pope John Paul II, and on that occasion, Sir Gilbert Levine gathered orchestras and choruses from all over Europe and America to present works of hope and peace. The Orchestra of St. Luke's, the Krakow Philharmonic Choir and the Washington Choral Arts Society all come together to deliver a moving performance of musical selections for Holy Week. A Celebration of Peace Through Music airs Sunday, April 5, 2015 at 10 a.m. on Classical 91.5.

Featured pieces include: Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, Verdi's Messa da Requiem, Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and Brahms' Symphony No. 1 along with an ancient Polish hymn and Gorecki's Totus Tuus.
