The life and music of Dieterich Buxtehude, the "Great Dane" of the German Baroque organ scene, is highlighted with guest commentator and biographer, Kerala Snyder (8/24).

Host Michael Barone leads us through five innovative programs in August, ranging from a sonic blockbuster of romantic pipe organ and wind ensemble to the creative contemporary compositions of a Syracuse Organ Book.  The music of Dieterich Buxtehude is highlighted with guest commentator and biographer, Kerala Snyder.

8/3        A Sonic Blockbuster  In which we blend a huge romantic pipe organ into a full symphonic wind and percussion ensemble, with clearly audible results!

8/10      A Syracuse Organ Book  On four instruments in a picturesque New York university town, we explore a collection of creative contemporary compositions in anticipation of an upcoming Organ Historical Society convention.

8/17      Cathedral Resonances   Sometimes lofty, sometimes light-hearted, this music either was inspired by and/or performed in an awesome ambience.

8/24      Discovering Dieterich Buxtehude  In the company of guest commentator and biographer Kerala Snyder, we explore the profoundly influential music of this “Great Dane” of the German Baroque organ scene.

8/31      Telling Tales  Some stories, with and without words, prove that music’s universal language is completely comprehensible.
