We stand in solidarity with the Asian American community
By Norm Silverstein ~ Posted Fri, 03/26/2021 - 2:41pm
This has been a week of mass shootings, hard to explain, nearly impossible to understand. Our hearts go out to the victims in both Atlanta and Boulder. Hate and bigotry have no place in our lives and we know that many people are hurting. WXXI, The Little Theatre, and City News stand in solidarity with the Asian American community.
We are proud that PBS shares this view and that many special programs will be added to our schedule for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May. Visit: WXXI.org/asian-pacific
The PBS NewsHour and Frontline will continue their work to heighten awareness and understanding around hate and racism in America. Our friends at Sesame Street are providing tips and resources to help parents with difficult conversations with children (The ABCs of Racial Literacy)
There will also be special programming on Classical 91.5 in May around Asian American composers and performers.
Today, and every day, we affirm our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, which defines the excellence of our station as we work together to build a safer and more inclusive environment.
