WXXI is here to support our community during these challenging times

During the current emergency brought on by COVID-19, WXXI will do everything possible to keep our community informed with the latest official information.  This is an important time for all of us to be well informed. WXXI and NPR are bringing you reliable information about the Coronavirus – facts and advice from the nation’s top healthcare professionals, as well as information about schools, workplaces, and public gatherings and events in our community.

You depend on reliable information so you can make informed decisions for yourself and your family. You can trust WXXI News to follow this important story wherever it takes us, for however long it takes. It goes without saying that we will do everything within our means to ensure the safety of our staff members at WXXI, The Little (which we have closed) and CITY Newspaper – and we will do everything in our power to make sure that you have the best information to help guard your own health and safety.

We believe we have an important role in keeping our community informed and will continue to provide extensive coverage on this outbreak. In addition, WXXI News has compiled a list of resources and information on the coronavirus, which you can find at WXXINews.org.

In response to area school closings, WXXI-TV will broadcast a weekday “Learn At Home” schedule beginning March 23rd to support of families, educators, and students. WXXI Kids 24/7 channel has remained the same with PBS KIDS favorites for our youngest viewers. WXXI’s Education team has also pulled together resources in support of this effort, which can be accessed at WXXI.org/education and on our social media channels. These resources include videos and activities for teachers and families, as well as a link to PBS LearningMedia’s free online service.
