This month, on From the Top, we'll hear two lucky teenage performers playing with the Shanghai String Quartet, plus The Cecilia Octet, the first show recorded in a private home, and a return to the Aspen Music Festival and School.
9/4 From Montclair, New Jersey, this week’s show features the world-renowned Shanghai String Quartet making a special guest appearance. Two lucky teenage performers get the privilege of joining the quartet in a thrilling performance of the music of Johannes Brahms. We’ll also listen to the music a young cellist has chosen to populate his playlists on Spotify—playlists cleverly designed to persuade his high school friends to become fans of classical music
9/11 A very special show, presented by radio station WCLV Ideastream in Cleveland, Ohio, features some of America’s best classical musicians, including The Cecilia Octet, an 18-year old cellist from New Jersey, a 17-year-old violinist from Ohio, an 18-year-old pianist from California and more, sharing their inspiring stories and performances.
9/18 For the first time ever, From the Top records its weekly radio show in a private home in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. This week, we’ll feature an 18-year-old bassoonist, an 11-year-old cellist, an 18-year-old guitarist and more.
9/25 From the Top returns to Aspen Music Festival and School to present a show filled with the outstanding performers who are studying there this summer. This show features some of America’s best young classical musicians sharing their stories and their music. Performers and repertoire to be announced.
