Hochstein at High Falls: Mambo Kings

Thu, 06/30/2016 - 12:15pm - 1:00pm

Who could possibly be better than the Mambo Princes? The Mambo Kings! Embrace your inner royalty and join us at Hochstein at High Falls for a lunch time concert that is fit for a king.

The High Falls Business Association has once again teamed up with the Hochstein School of Music & Dance and WXXI to present Hochstein at High Falls, a noontime summer concert series. The series includes ten outdoor concerts Thursday afternoons at 12:15pm during June, July and August. Weather permitting, they will be held in the Granite Mills Park near the Pont de Rennes Bridge and will feature a diverse mix of musical artists and instructors. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating and lunch, or pick up a great lunch at area restaurants (like La Luna and Fina's Cafe). Each performance runs approximately 45 minutes.

Started in 1995, the Mambo Kings are an explosive blend of Afro-Cuban rhythms and jazz improvisation. They have been enjoying great success as Upstate New York’s foremost Latin jazz ensemble and have rapidly earned a national reputation for their music. They have appeared in Pops concerts with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra as well as orchestras in Baltimore, Vancouver, Detroit, Dallas, Naples (FL), and Portland (OR). The band consists of Mambo Kings’ musical director and pianist Richard DeLaney, percussionist Freddy Colón, saxophonist John Viavattine, bassist Hector Diaz, and percussionist Tony Padilla. Learn more about them at  www.mambokingdom.com
