WXXI News Offers Resources to Cast an Informed Vote on Election Day

(Rochester, New York) October 28, 2015 – WXXI News provides information and resources needed to cast an informative vote this election season. This includes Candidate Free Air Time, which provides political candidates the opportunity to share their views with the Rochester community through WXXI. Candidates are given two minutes to explain their platforms on air, free of charge. On Thursday, October 29 and Friday, October 30 from 12pm-1pm on WRUR-FM 88.5, AM 1370, and online at WXXInews.org, listeners will hear these messages in a special broadcast during the first hour of Connections with Evan Dawson. The video segments will also be available to view at WXXInews.org starting Friday, October 30.
For voters interested in learning more about the candidates running for the Monroe County Executive seat, they can watch the October 26th Voice of the Voter debate online by visiting WXXInews.org and searching “debate”. Brighton supervisor Sandra Frankel (Democratic, Working Families and Women’s Equality Parties), Monroe County Clerk Cheryl Dinolfo (Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform Parties), and Rajesh Barnabas (Green Party) all participated. Voice of the Voter is a collaboration among WXXI, Democrat and Chronicle, 13WHAM-TV and WDKX 103.9, which is committed to bringing citizens’ concerns to the forefront in political issues.
WXXI News will provide complete coverage on Election Night, Tuesday, November 3 starting at 9 p.m. on AM 1370 and online at WXXInews.org. WXXI’s news team will report live from candidate headquarters, while Connections’ Evan Dawson, along with Professor Timothy Kneeland, Chairperson in History & Political Science at Nazareth College and Katherine Smith of the League of Women Voters, will be in studio providing results and analysis. Listeners can also follow WXXI News and its reporters on Twitter and Facebook.
Then on Wednesday, November 4 from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. on AM 1370 and WRUR-FM 88.5 during Morning Edition listeners can hear a wrap up of the results, along with interviews with the candidates and analysis.
