ell phones are at the center of rapid emergency response plans, as highlighted by events like the earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal. Researchers here in Rochester are looking at how that technology can also be used locally. 

Numbers released just this week from the World Health Organization report that there are still 17,000 current cases of Ebola, and over 35 million people are living with AIDS. The sheer scale of these diseases present major challenges to governments and healthcare providers. However, cell phones and the information they provide are powerful tools for tracking diseases and preventing further transmission.
