WXXI’S PBS KIDS WRITERS CONTEST NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS

Entry Deadline: April 3, 2015

(Rochester, New York) January 28, 2015 – WXXI is hosting its annual PBS Kids Writers Contest and is accepting submissions now through April 3, 2015. The PBS Kids Writers Contest encourages children in grades K-3 in communities across the country to celebrate the power of creating stories and illustrations by submitting their own original works. Original stories may be fiction or non-fiction. Eligible children from the WXXI viewing area are encouraged to write and illustrate stories to submit to the local WXXI contest, which will select winners and award prizes. For rules and an entry form, plus examples of past entries, visit: WXXI.org/education. Stories must be received by April 3rd.

First place winners from the WXXI’s local contest will then be entered into the national level of the contest, where a panel of judges will select the national winners. National winners will be notified on or before August 31, 2015. First place national winners will receive a tablet computer or electronic learning device.
