Rochester, New York (April 12, 2013) – The WXXI Online Auction opens Saturday, April 20th atWXXI.org/auction with thousands of items up for bid. A 2013 Ford Focus from Shepard Ford, food and wine certificates, town packages, and original artwork are just some of the merchandise up for auction. Everyone who registers for a bidder’s account will receive two tickets to the Little Theatre, and the ability to bid on everything from a Corning art glass bowl to Chautauqua Institute Gate Passes. Those who register before April 20 will also be entered in a drawing to win a 6-month membership to LA Fitness.
WXXI’s Online Auction will also continue its popular Daily Deals, which include a $500 shopping spree at Parkleigh, dinner and drinks for eight guests at the Bonefish Grill, a $500 gift card to Wegmans, a $250 gas card, and a private screening for 50 at the Little Theatre. WXXI will unveil these Daily Deals at WXXI.org/auction each day, and will close the bidding nightly at 10 p.m.
Proceeds from WXXI’s Online Auction support the quality programs and services the station provides to the Rochester community, including PBS and NPR programming; locally produced documentaries such as Frank Lloyd Wright’s Boynton House: The Next Hundred Years, and Restoring a Masterpiece: The Renovation of the Eastman Theatre; locally produced TV series such as Second Opinion, Homework Hotline, and Need to Know Rochester; and radio series like Fascinatin’ Rhythm and With Heart and Voice; WXXI's Educational Video Library service, VITAL; and outreach initiatives such as teacher workshops, community forums, and film screenings.
