Brizard Speaks with Reporters Wednesday

Outgoing Rochester City School Superintendent Jean-Claude Brizard is scheduled to speak about his resignation at a press conference Wednesday morning.

Brizard is taking over as Chief Executive Officer of the Chicago Public School system. Chicago Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel introduced Brizard at an announcement at a high school there Monday morning.

Brizard listed accomplishments at RCSD in his letter of resignation addressed to Board President Malik Evans.

The Chicago Tribune covered Monday's introduction of Brizard in Chicago and reports that his appointment there could lead to a potentially explosive showdown with the Chicago Teachers Union.

Local Education Reporter Tiffany Lankes of the Democrat and Chronicle gave Chicago public radio listeners information about Brizard's tenure here in Rochester during an interview on WBEZ's Eight Forty-Eight program.
