Former Health Commissioner Mourned

The state's former health commissioner, Dr. Richard Daines, died suddenly over the weekend; the probable cause of death was a heart attack.

As WXXI Capitol Bureau Correspondent Karen DeWitt reports former Governor Eliot Spitzer appointed Daines as Health Commissioner.

Daines was a proponent of the controversial "sugar tax" on soft drinks, and was well known for his video demostration of how much sugar is often found in these drinks.
