This month, host Candice Agree introduces us to some of the lesser known works of Enrique Granados.

6/6       Frederic Mompou  Works for piano, guitar, and voice by the enigmatic 20th-century Catalan composer Frederic Mompou, performed by Alicia de Larrocha, Julian Bream, Victoria de los Ángeles, and Judith Jauregui.

6/13      México Romántico Romantic works by two of Mexico’s great 20th-century composers: Ponce’s Trio Romántico and Chávez’s Symphony #4.

6/20      The Unknown Granados Lesser known orchestral and chamber works by the composer of Goyescas and 12 Spanish Dances.

6/27      16th & 17th Century, Castilian & Catalan, Sacred & Secular The featured work on this week’s program of music from Renaissance and Baroque Spain is Missa pro defunctis, a requiem written during the great Barcelona plague, by Catalan composer Joan Cererols. Works for viola da gamba by Diego Ortiz from Castilla-La Mancha, featuring Jordi Savall round out the program.
