May 2013 wraps up the Metropolitan Opera broadcast season
May 2013 wraps up the Metropolitan Opera broadcast season
Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted (end times vary)
The Metropolitan Opera radio broadcasts for May wrap up with Poulenc and Wagner. (NOTE: The opera begins at 12 noon on May 11.)
5/4 Poulenc: Dialogues des Carmélites
In one of the Met’s greatest productions, Poulenc’s masterpiece makes a rare return to the repertory with a fine cast led by Patricia Racette, Felicity Palmer, and Isabel Leonard. Louis Langrée conducts this dramatic work with one of the most haunting final moments in opera.
5/11 (12pm) Wagner: Götterdämmerung
Robert Lepage's landmark production of Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen is back for three complete cycles in spring 2013, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth. The Ring's cataclysmic finale stars Deborah Voigt and Katarina Dalayman as Brünnhilde, opposite Jay Hunter Morris and Lars Cleveman as Siegfried. Hans-Peter König is Hagen and Fabio Luisi conducts.
