Lyric Opera of Chicago, founded in 1954, is one of the world's greatest opera companies. The new season of eight broadcasts begins on May 16, 2015.  Some of this season’s highlights include Verdi’s Il Trovatore, Wagner’s Tannhäuser, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and a special performance of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess airing on July 4th.
