Library Explorers
Library Explorers
Join us in celebrating and exploring the magic and uniqueness of libraries in our region and beyond with Library Explorers!
WXXI Kids is collaborating with two local library systems - Monroe County Library System and Pioneer Library System - to bring the public media project, Library Explorers, to our region! Library Explorers is a virtual (and in-person!) scavenger hunt that encourages children and families to explore and learn about libraries in our region and beyond.
Local participating libraries create short video tours of their libraries showcasing all the things that make their space welcoming and special! Each local library's video will include the tour, an activity you can join in on, and a secret password to record on the Passport. And keep your eyes peeled for some PBS KIDS friends, each library is choosing a PBS KIDS character as their mascot too!
Children and families in our area will also be able to explore libraries in other communities, including Pittsburgh, Alaska, and Georgia!
Make sure you stop back because we will be continuing to add more libraries!

Virtually visit all of the locations on our Library Explorers map.
Each location has a video that includes a tour and a fun activity featuring some of your favorite PBS KIDS characters.
Watch each video and listen carefully for the password for each location.
Record the password on your official Library Explorers passport, or just record them on a sheet of paper.
Once you have all of the passwords, send a picture of your completed passport to crager@wxxi.org to receive a Library Explorers certificate, and other prizes.
If you can, visit one or all of the participating libraries in person! Snap a photo while you're there and tag @WXXIKids on Facebook or Instagram!
Discovery and fun await! Ready, set, EXPLORE! Download your passport and get started!

Our Children's Department is very active and busy, with in house programs serving children from birth to 12 and their caregivers, outreach programming supporting nursery schools, day care centers, and other youth serving organizations, and an Early Learning Center that encourages the five activities in which preschoolers need to engage to enter school ready to read.
