WXXI celebrates spring with a host of special events in April

We recently had the pleasure of hosting in Rochester PBS Nature executive producer Fred Kaufman and Emmy award-winning filmmaker Ann Johnson Prum for a visit in anticipation of their three-part series Nature: America Spring LIVE, which premieres at the end of this month. They joined Evan Dawson on Connection (which you can listen to by clicking here) s, attended a reception at The Strong Museum of Play, and hosted a special screening and discussion at the Little Theatre. Grants from the National Science Foundation and Ann Ray Foundation, as well as local support from our friends at Cobblestone Capital Advisors, made these March events possible and will continue this month with a Family Fishing event at Powder Mills Park on April 13, WXXI Kids’ Nature Fest at Seneca Park on April 27, and a digital Nature Challenge. To learn more about these events and other activities and how you can take part, please visit WXXI.org/citizenscience.

Join us in sharing why public media is important

With recently released Trump Administration Budget proposal that calls for the defunding of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, many have asked me if the future of federal funding for public broadcasting is being called into question. The answer may very well be “yes” and that’s why having a strong, diverse base of grassroots advocates is essential.

“WXXI is one of the things that makes living in Rochester so great!” - WXXI Listeners & Supporters Lawrence & Margo

WXXI’s news service seems to be resonating throughout our community. If you were one of the many individuals who pledged their support during our February Radio Membership Drive, thank you! We heard from many listeners during the week about how they value the fair, balanced and trustworthy reporting they get from WXXI and NPR – now more than ever.
