WXXI promises to bring you the smartest National Republican & Democratic Conventions coverage
By Norm Silverstein ~ Posted Fri, 07/15/2016 - 2:29pm
The political convention season is upon us and WXXI has you covered! PBS NewsHour combines forces with NPR to co-produce and simulcast coverage of the 2016 Republican National Convention on July 18 – 21 in Cleveland and the 2016 Democratic National Convention on July 25 – 28 in Philadelphia. The partnership between them, a first time collaboration for the two organizations at the conventions, will make for the smartest coverage to be found on television, radio and digital. The 2016 Republican National Convention coverage begins at 8pm Monday, July 18 on WXXI-TV, AM 1370, and WXXINews.org. It will run through Thursday. The Democratic Convention begins Monday, July 25th.
PBS NewsHour and NPR have partnered to leverage the work of their political reporters and analysts to provide coverage that informs and engages voters and encourages a more civil electoral discussion. Special convention coverage will be anchored by the PBS NewsHour’s Judy Woodruff and Gwen Ifill while NPR host Rachel Martin will report inside the hall with NewsHour’s Lisa Desjardins and John Yang and NPR’s Sue Davis.
Our own Capitol Bureau Correspondent, Karen DeWitt, will be reporting live from both conventions. You can hear her reports on AM 1370 and at WXXINews.org.
