WXXI presents an encore of Ken Burns' "The National Parks"

WXXI celebrates the 100th anniversary of our national parks with an encore broadcast of The National Parks: America‚Äôs Best Idea, airing Monday, April 25 through Saturday, April 30 at 9 p.m. on WXXI-TV. Directed by Ken Burns and co-produced with his longtime colleague, Dayton Duncan, who also wrote the script, the series tells the history of the National Park idea, chronicling its birth in the mid-1800s and tracing its evolution for nearly 150 years. It covers some of nature‚Äôs most spectacular locales ‚Äď from Acadia to Yosemite, Yellowstone to the Grand Canyon, and the Everglades of Florida to the Gates of the Arctic in Alaska.

I hope you have a chance to tune in all week to meet the people who fought to preserve our country’s wildest places.
