WXXI is committed to our community's health

When it comes to this community's health, you will not find a more committed and engaged media partner than WXXI. In fact, this week we will be airing a special Second Opinion episode tackling the controversy of when—and how often—women should be having mammograms. The episode Second Opinion: Mammography airs this Friday at 10 pm on WXXI-TV/HD, and should not be missed. Funded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and co-produced by the University of Rochester Medical Center, there is no program on television that does a better job of explaining not only how a medical problem affects an individual -- but how that individual can help take control of his or her own healthcare.

Coincidentally, this week, WXXI's studios will be bustling as our crew is producing six more episodes for the upcoming season of Second Opinion. New topics being discussed this week include Autism, Colon Cancer, Living with Alzheimer's, and Pneumonia – which will mark the series' 100th episode. It will be an active week as doctors and medical experts from around the country will be flown into Rochester to join host Dr. Peter Salgo to inspire some of the most honest and in-depth medical conversations found on television today. The 8th season of Second Opinion will premiere this October.
