Making Media Social

If you were fortunate enough to be at the recent screening of the film "The Island President" at the Little Theatre, you were given rare access to help enhance what was an already compelling movie. WXXI helped facilitate the Skype of the film's Director/Cinematographer Jon Schenk, so not only could the audience listen to the fascinating filmmaking that took place on the project, they was able to interact with Shenk and ask him questions — as he sat his study at his home in California. These Skpes and talk-backs are frequent occurrences at the Little, where we encourage movie-goers to "Share the Experience" of film. Some places just offer social media — we make media social.

Throughout this web site, you are able to comment on any story or article — in fact, you can click on the link below and offer your thoughts on this message. Our Facebook page has over 3,700 "likes" and if you follow reporters like Karen DeWitt and Hélène Biandudi on Twitter you're up on the some of the most interesting news around the city and state. In the next month we'll be introducing our new WXXI App, as well as a brand new mobile site that will increase the already leading age innovation of WXXI.

And finally, next weekend (8/4 and 8/5) we offer the most basic form of social media. We will be at the Park Ave Festival with staff and volunteers at our booth to help answer any questions you might have — and share your comments on our programs, services, or even what films you might want to see at the Little.
