Kidding Around This Weekend

It was good to be a "WXXI Kid" this weekend! More than 4,000 children and their parents joined us Saturday morning at WXXI studios for our free Curious George Swings into Spring Event. In addition to meeting everyone’s favorite little monkey and watching a special episode of Curious George, kids participated in fun-filled activities hosted by WXXI and our event partners Rochester City School District Early Childhood Department, Child Care Council, Master Gardeners of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County, Seneca Park Zoo, Foodlink,, Genesee Valley Parent Magazine, Hochstein School of Music & Dance, and Rochester Museum & Science Center.

Then on Sunday, families enjoyed a special concert with Billy Kelly and the BlahBlahBlahs at the Little Theatre. Kids were singing and dancing in the aisles to a fun selection of Billy Kelly songs, including “I’m Thinking of an Animal”, which is based on his “I’m Thinking of an Animal with Billy Kelly” segments that air on WXXI-TV during our kids’ block.

If you’re a parent of young child and aren’t a WXXI Kids Club member yet – I encourage you to join our family! When you do you’ll receive discounts to local restaurants and venues through our WXXI Kids Club MemberCard — plus free tickets to special events, like the Billy Kelly concert! To learn more about how to become a Kids Club member, click here.
