Conventions and Events
By Norm Silverstein ~ Posted Tue, 09/04/2012 - 8:18am
WXXI News is in the midst of its coverage of conventions. WXXI-TV continues its live coverage weeknights from the floor of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. You can also be assured that NPR will have reaction and in-depth stories daily as WXXI provides the most balanced and trusted reporting during this exciting election season.
Now, if you need a break from the political intrigue, you can take advantage of some entertaining options in the next couple weekends. The Clothesline Arts Festival gets underway this coming Saturday and Sunday, and WXXI will have its booth there all weekend. We invite you to stop by and tell us what you think of our programming and ask us any questions you might have of any of our services. In fact on Saturday, WXXi will be broadcasting live from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with Scott Regan doing a special episode of Open Tunings from 10a.m. to 12 p.m. on WRUR-FM 88.5, and then Classical 91.5's Julia Figueras and Marianne Carberry will be on the air live from 12 to 2 p.m. on WXXI-FM 91.5. If you're fans of Scott, Julia, and Marianne, this is a great time to meet them and watch them do their shows!
Finally, I'd like to remind you about WXXI's Open House on Saturday, September 15th. WXXI opens its door to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as we invite the community to come explore everything WXXI has to offer! We will have arts and crafts for the kids, countless PBS Kids characters looking to have their pictures taken, live broadcasts, free health screenings, and all of our studios sets will be lit up for you to come visit! It will be a fun, FREE event and I look forward to seeing you there!
