"Connections with Evan Dawson" hits the airwaves

This week marks the beginning of a new era for WXXI radio as Evan Dawson gets behind the microphone for our weekly afternoon talk show, Connections. For more than 25 years, Bob Smith held that post, hosting 1370 Connection, but had to leave the program due to health reasons. But we are now thrilled to welcome Evan to the WXXI family and are excited to hear the new show take shape over the upcoming weeks. He kicks off his first week on AM 1370 with a great line-up of guests including Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren, documentarian Ken Burns, Wilmorite’s Dennis Wilmot, and Greece Police Chief Todd Baxter.  Visit the Connections page for a complete list of guests.

Evan comes to WXXI from 13WHAM-TV, where he served as morning news anchor for the past six years. He was hired as a reporter for 13WHAM-TV in 2003 before being promoted to anchor in 2007. He is also the author of Summer in a Glass: The Coming Age of Winemaking in the Finger Lakes and has written freelance articles on topics including politics, wine, travel, and Major League Baseball. As you can see his varied interests will lend themselves well to the broad range of topics Connections will cover on a weekly basis.

As another reminder, aside from listening from noon-2:00 weekdays on AM 1370, or streaming here on online, you can take Connections on the go with WXXI's app for both iPone and Android devices. You can find out more here on our mobile page.
