Live from Hochstein: Awake the Voice! Awake the String!
Live from Hochstein: Awake the Voice! Awake the String!
Wed, 04/25/2012 - 12:10pm - 12:50pm
Awake the Voice! Awake the String! A lunchtime in song with mezzo-sorapno Allyn van Dusen, guitarist Peter Kodzas, and violinist Pia Liptak.
WXXI and Hochstein School of Music and Dance present Live from Hochstein featuring mezzo-soprano Allyn van Dusen singing music by Vaughan Williams, Whitacre, Liptak, and DeFalla on Wednesday April 25th at 12:10 p.m. on Classical 91.5 and 90.3.
Allyn Van Dusen has had an active singing career for twenty-five years. Her rich, warm voice soars easily from the low range to the high, and throughout her career she has sung a wide variety of literature, both in the church setting and elsewhere. Her repertoire of over 600 church solos encompasses everything from early music to established favorites to interesting and accessible new songs hot off the press.
Live from Hochstein is the longest running live broadcast concert series in Western New York. Broadcast live from the Hochstein Performance Hall (50 North Plymouth Ave. in Rochester), the series presents performances by some of the finest artists from the Rochester area’s musical community. Each of these free “brown bag” concerts runs from 12:10-12:50 p.m., giving downtown business people, teachers, families, students and friends an opportunity to enjoy classical music during their lunch hour.
Live from Hochstein repeats that same day at 10 p.m. on Classical 91.5.
