Backstage Pass with the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet
Fri, 02/13/2009 - 1:00pm
The Grammy-winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (LAGQ) has forged an unmatched reputation for making brilliant and compelling music with little more than four acoustic guitars, an uncanny musical vocabulary and a boundless spirit of musical innovation and cross-cultural adventure. On the next Backstage Pass, the LAGQ bring all of this to the Henry Epstein Studio at WXXI as they perform live and chat with host Julia Figueras. Backstage Pass with the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet airs Friday, February 13 at 1 p.m. and repeats Sunday, February 15 at 2 p.m. on Classical 91.5/90.3/HD 91.5-1.
Celebrating their twenty-seventh year on the concert stage, the members of the LAGQ continue to set the standard for expression and virtuosity among guitar ensembles, while perennially redefining themselves in their musical explorations. With over a dozen recordings over the past two decades, they have established themselves as masters of the classics, as well as the creators of the unique syntheses of world-music and contemporary styles that have made the "LAGQ-sound" a favorite around the world.
Backstage Pass is a live, hour-long radio series that is committed to highlighting performing artists– giving Classical 91.5/90.3 listeners the opportunity to hear local and visiting musicians performing live. The series is made possible in part by a grant from the Gouvernet Arts Fund at Rochester Area Community Foundation.
