WXXI presents live coverage from BBC of the coronation of his Majesty the King, followed by special programming Saturday and Sunday.

BBC live coverage of the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla begins at 2:30 a.m. and is expected to last seven hours. King Charles will become the oldest person to succeed the throne in British royal history. The Coronation airs Saturday, May 6 at 2:30 a.m. on WXXI-TV.

The Coronation coverage will replay on WXXI-WORLD on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

WXXI will continue the celebration that evening with the following special presentations:

Charles R: The Making of a Monarch airs Saturday, May 6 at 8 p.m. The documentary explores the past 74 years that Charles has been a king in the making, showing his life as captured on film, home movies and TV cameras. *Please note: This special preempts Father Brown.

The Coronation: A Day to Remember airs Saturday, May 6 at 9 p.m. and will showcase high points from throughout the day. *Please note: This special preempts Midsomer Murders.

Sing for the King airs Sunday, May 7 at 2 p.m. and tells the story of the formation of the national choir that will perform on the grounds of Windsor Castle the day following the coronation. *Please note: This special preempts Great Performances at the Met: FedoraThe Coronation Concert airs Sunday, May 7 at 3 p.m. Lionel Richie and Katy Perry headline the concert showcasing the country’s diverse cultural heritage in music, theatre, and dance.
