WXXI-TV Begins Broadcasting with NextGen TV
WXXI-TV Begins Broadcasting with NextGen TV
Thu, 03/23/2023 - 6:00am - 6:00pm
WXXI along with WHAM-TV (ABC), WROC-TV (CBS), WUHF (Fox) are broadcasting with new technology that promises better TV over the airwaves.
WXXI and Rochester's three commercial stations have launched NextGen TV, also known as ATSC 3.0 – a new over-the-air standard that delivers sharper images and deeper contrast, plus a Voice+ dialogue enhancement to create a more life-like experience.
You don't need a NextGen TV set to watch your favorite shows as all programming will continue to be available in the existing DTV format, which can be received on all modern television sets. You just won’t be able to take advantage of the enhanced quality picture and better sound that a NextGen TV set offers. You can learn more about NextGen TV by visiting www.WatchNextGenTV.com, which offers a links to available NextGen TV set models.
This new technology will not disrupt cable or satellite viewers and will continue to preserve free over-the-air service.
Antenna viewers may need to rescan their TV sets to ensure uninterrupted service. Rescan instructions are available at fcc.gov/rescan.
Cable and satellite subscribers do not need to take any action.
